My First Day
I arrived at the Cardigan Lodge by bus and I dropped off my stuff. The first thing we did when we got off the bus was meet the counselors. The counselors then learned each of our names. Next, my group and I got to meet and learned about our counselor, Max. Afterwards, Mr. Woolner gave us a tour and showed us our rooms. We all unpacked and got ready to go hiking. Right before we went hiking, we met in our meeting spot with Max. Max said that we were going to play Whoosh, a game I had never heard before. Soon after, we set off hiking. On our way, we saw things such as the beautiful Welton Falls. Welton Falls was an amazing waterfall Max had showed us. I had three Snickers bars that I had traded for, so I decided to have one of those for snack. All throughout our hike we sketched and sketched some more. Later on the hike we played a game where we had to find a pen. It was hard, but we eventually all found it. Following that, we ate lunch. I had my signature sandwich which included pepperoni, cheese, and mayo. Eventually, we got back from hiking. When I got back from hiking, it was my main mission to shower first. After a nice warm shower, I had dinner. For dinner we had spaghetti and meatballs with a side of garlic bread. It was delicious! Just when I thought it could not get any better, they put on a skit and at the end they told us we were going to have brownies for dessert! After an outstanding dinner, I brushed my teeth and starting getting ready for bed. Mr. Woolner told us that we should meet in the common room for stories. He told us about an evil pirate, Blackbeard. Then, we set off to bed, or so we thought. Mr. Woolner came in and told us he had candy for us. I chose three Swedish Fish. Finally, my bunk mates and I nodded off to bed.
Human Enviornment Interaction
Human Environment Interaction is where Humans change the environment for the good and the bad. The same goes for environment changing humans. We saw a lot of this at Cardigan, and I mean
a lot.
Some good things that humans did were build a fire tower on top of Mt. Cardigan that protects the environment from fires. Also, we built stone walls that can serve as boundaries or maybe to keep animals in/out. The amazing environment gave us stars that we watched during the night. It was quite the view! Lastly, The windmills that we saw at the view from PJs ledge. These windmills result in that much more energy in the world. A bad thing that happened at Cardigan was the rain. The rain caused us to have to wear raincoats and be cold on our hike. These are just some examples of Human Environment Interaction that happened at Cardigan.
